Dressing the truth

I have to admit I’m a sucker for blazers and dresses and when I worked in an office I wore this a lot. I have a couple of good blazers from back then and also managed to buy two more this year. Ok one of them was a real bargain as it was from the test collection and sold for only a fraction of the price. (NOK 300 normal price about NOK 2000)

But it’s time to be realistic, I don’t work at the office no more, my health issues put a stop to that a couple of years ago. (I still hope and believe I can work again if only my head stops spinning for every little thing I do.  There’s always hope.) What I need now is practical, comfy clothes to wear around the house, clothes I can relax in, take a walk in and run some errands in without looking like I dressed in the dark. I really don’t wear blazers at home and I have to face it, I’m at home 90% of the time and this is how I really dress.

So it was time to face the truth, I started by dividing my clothes into 2 categories my Cozy homey clothes and the clothes I wear when I’m going somewhere. Some are for both categories. Leanne from Classy yet trendy for sure was no fool when she started to sell e-books in several categories. I’ve learned so much from her, but since I live in a much colder climate and also in Scandinavia where we have different fashion I have to be creative with what we’ve got here.

So far I’ve only categorized them in my Stylebook app, this is an app for IOS, there are also other closet apps Smart closet is one and GlamOutfit one. So here’s my Cosy homy capsule for this winter.

And here’s some outfits from my cosy home capsule.

And here’s the rest of  my winter capsule, I could probably do with half of this, but this is clothes I like and use when going somewhere.

The last thing i bought before I started my shopping fast was a orange skirt, I’m still waiting for it so don’t know if it will stay, I’ve become an expert in sending things back. Anyway I played around with it and made some outfits.

I think that separating like this will make it even easier to get more wear of my clothes. It has also proved that I do have enough of clothes in both categories so no need to panic even if I’m having a fast. The options are many, I don’t need to put on the same everyday or feel I’m badly dressed when at home.

Until next time

Kari

  1. I wish you would make an ebook capsule wardrobe like Leeanne does, but for colder climates. Your taste is impeccable.

  2. I have this struggle, too. Especially in the hotter summer months. I’m frequently the awkwardly overdressed mom at preschool story time.

I love that you named it the Cozy Homey capsule! That’s a great positive perspective.

  3. I love your style and your blog! I am not a fan of the capsule eBooks – I think you can find the same information online, for free – but I am glad I “met” you through the facebook group.
